Yorkshire

Groundwork

Excavate & Reinstate Ltd has carried out the initial phase of works for a substation installation in Yorkshire, beginning with the excavation and preparation of the ground. The area has been carefully excavated to the required depth, with a clean and level formation now in place, ready for the next phase of work. Markers have been accurately positioned within the prepared area to set out the exact siting of the substation plinth in line with the design specifications. The concrete blinding is scheduled to be laid next, forming the stable base upon which the plinth will be constructed. This early stage reflects the company’s attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality from the ground up.

Shuttering Construction

The groundwork has now been fully excavated, levelled, and compacted, providing a solid foundation for the next phase of the substation build. Concrete blinding has been laid across the prepared base, creating a clean and stable surface. A construction worker is currently assembling the shuttering, carefully building it to the specified dimensions. The formwork includes a precisely positioned opening to accommodate the letterbox, ensuring all future service routes are accounted for. This stage marks a key point in the construction process, with the site progressing well in line with the project’s design requirements.

Concrete

The concrete pour for the substation plinth has now been successfully completed. The mix was placed into the reinforced shuttering with care, ensuring full coverage around the steelwork and all service openings. The surface has been levelled and finished to a high standard, in line with the design requirements. The concrete is now in its curing phase, protected to allow it to set correctly and achieve the necessary strength. This marks a significant step forward in the progress of the installation.

Ground Compaction

The groundwork is now well underway, with the excavation complete and the formation being compacted in preparation for the next phase of the substation build. A construction worker is shown operating a whacker plate, ensuring each layer of the base is firmly compacted to achieve a stable and level surface. This methodical approach provides the necessary ground conditions ahead of the concrete blinding. The area has been prepared in line with the required specifications, marking steady progress towards the formation of the substation plinth.

Steelwork

The shuttering has now been fully constructed, built to the required dimensions and aligned precisely in accordance with the substation design. Steel reinforcement has been installed within the formwork, carefully positioned and tied to provide the necessary structural integrity for the concrete pour. The shuttering itself has been reinforced and securely braced to maintain its shape and strength during the pouring process. With all elements now in place, the site is fully prepared for the next stage of construction, marking a key milestone in the build.

Sub-station Plinth

The concrete has now fully cured, forming a solid and well-finished substation plinth. With curing complete, the shuttering has been carefully removed, revealing clean edges and precise detailing around the structure. Work has now moved on to preparing the ground around the plinth, with the surrounding area being levelled and cleared in readiness for the next phase of the substation installation. Progress continues steadily, with each stage delivered to a high standard in line with the project’s design and specifications.
